Throughout April in
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be promoting Child Abuse Prevention Month throughout the month of April!

Students in grades K-5 will have access to developmentally appropriate classroom guidance lessons designed by CMS elementary school counselors to promote safety and ensure all children are aware of their rights! These lessons are aligned with the N.C. Essential Standards for Health and Guidance. The lessons can be found by clicking here and on the CMS website. You'll also find a parent/community newsletter which discusses statistics around child abuse and neglect in Mecklenburg County.

Secondary students will have the option to participate in the #PassThePinwheel social media campaign.  This year, CMS will receive dozens of pinwheel garden kits to display as part of the county-wide pinwheel garden project. We are excited to have pinwheel gardens at schools of all levels as a symbol to promote child abuse prevention and awareness.
